Haylie is almost positive her husband, Chase, is cheating on her. She starts investigating and finds more and more evidence, but remains in denial until the truth is staring her in the face. She ends up heading out of town to give her time to think about things and meets a great girl named Meghan who provides her company and support. Eventually, Haylie has to confront Chase and decide whether she wants to stay or leave their marriage.Leaving out two spoilers, that was the total plot of the book. No subplots, only 4 real characters total. This definitely made for a different kind of book with the main character's thoughts and feelings being the main action. I do think a little bit more needed to happen in the book. There is a "twist" in the book that is pretty obvious and I predicted it right away. It was a great idea, but could've been better executed.
I felt the story was very realistic of emotions someone would go through in this situation. Haylie's character had the right mix of weakness and strength. I felt her decision at the end was justified. This is a fairly short book and I think it could have even been a novella, since not a lot happens. I did want to keep reading and see what happened and I did become emotionally invested in the main character. I'm interested to see how this writer improves in the future.

Tear Stained Beaches eBook Courtney Giardina Reviews
The plot is generic and traditional - it should have been a "ho-hum" effort - and it wasn't. We've all been there - well 99% of us - attached to a cheating man, whether as teenagers, young singles or married women. The impulse to cling on through thick and thin is inherent in our gender, who have been encouraged from small girls to nurture, to placate, to feel guilty about everything that goes wrong. I'm generalising here of course, and particularly about my older generation. I am hoping the latest generation is made of sterner stuff - but the very nature of us leads me to doubt it.
Haylie is a loving wife to Chase who is showing signs of drawing away from her. The clues that he is having an affair are obvious, but Haylie doesn't want to admit to herself that this is what is happening for fear of having her life blowing up around her. This is understandable and no doubt familiar territory to millions of women. Finally, she can't take his manipulative attitude any longer - the turning her queries into accusations of her "argumentative" behaviour - the late hours, the perfume on him...need I say more?
After finding evidence that he is planning to go to a town a few hours away for a long weekend, Haylie walks out and heads for the same town. Perhaps it is time to find out once and for all what he is up to even if it means confronting the other woman.
I won't give a spoiler - that would be unfair - and there is a slight plot fault that I can't reveal for letting cats out of bags - but which gave me pause for thought, however this in no way spoils the denouement.
Haylie's reaction to her husband's infidelity is a lesson for all the women - and that means most of us - who have been cheated by their husbands.
Courtney Giardina handles this story with sensitivity and great finesse. Well written and paced - although the flow slows while Haley procrastinates over whether Chase is playing up or not - and it's obvious he is - this is a novel unique in the genre.
Congratulations to the author for an interesting twist on a traditional plot.I would dearly like to read a sequel to find out how Haley is forging ahead and how she copes with the next bloke on her horizon!
Young women who read this novel, take note!
This book was perfection. I bought it on a whim, never heard of this author but I'd just finished a mediocre book about adultery and saw this one suggested. I wanted a strong female lead who stands up for herself during an affair, and some of the reviews said the lead in this one was strong, so I ordered it....and oh my god, I was completely consumed. How this author clearly showed detailed emotions, created 3 dimensional characters that came to life in 159 pages is beyond me. There was no nonsense in this book, it was straight to the point and it hit hard. It was heartbreaking, real, raw and absolutely incredible. Damn. Well done.
This is first cheating husband book that has a strong woman charater. Infidelity is a bitter pill to swallow. Their is no one answer fits all, but Haylie worked out what was best for her.
To those who forgive and try to let go hats off, but for those who know they can never be at peace in their heart or mind in a relationship that infidelity has reared it's head this is your read.
This book is realistic of the emotion that goes through your mind when this becomes your reality. The way Haylie recognizes her own worth and what lines she will not allow anyone to cross sets her up for recovery. I hate when the word mistake is used in an affair. This is a decision and as with all decisions there is consequence . I would have loved to read about what Haylie's future looks like and what happens to Chase and Madelyn.
I'll read this author again
This book is amazing-hands down. I felt what she felt and wanted so much more for her.
Oh Haylie and Chase. Married couple. Everything seems great until he starts coming home late, taking extended trips and coming home smelling like another woman! Poor Haylie I thought.
This book touched my heart and it felt real. Their relationship is like a roller coaster and Haylie is holding onto dear life until everything starts making sense.
I love how she grows and stands up for herself. Great book and def recommend it!
